Even working at a gun shop has its case of the “Mondays”.
Seems like everyone today has been just annoying or stupid. So far today…
Customer wants to look at a GSG on the rack. I hand it over to him and he looks at the price tag. Asks me “How much is it?” while looking at the price tag with the big $250 written in Sharpie.
Customer wants to buy one of our consignment shotguns. He says he’ll buy it if the owner will pay for the Sales Tax. “Umm no. The buyer is responsible for sales tax since they’re buying it.” Customer throws a tantrum and doesn’t buy the gun.
Customer comes in trying to sell his supposedly rare and valuable S&W Model 13-2 in chrome. Goes off saying this gun is worth $2,000 in Georgia cause it was a Police Dept commemorative gun but has no markings saying so. I search Gunbroker, Google, Blue Book…nothing close. Base model is worth $425 in excellent condition but his chrome plating was bubbling. Customer goes on a hissy fit cause we said we don’t want to buy it for $2,000. Says we know nothing about guns.
Customer wants to see a box of ammo. Proceeds to open box, inspect it visually, then smells the ammo, and puts it to his ear as if listening to something. Decides its not the ammo he wants/needs.
Customer asks whats on sale. I inform him EVERYTHING in the shop is on sale except the consignments. 5 seconds later, customer picks up a cleaning kit and asks “Is this on sale?”.
Customer comes in asking for .38 ammo. I ask if its .38 Special or .38 Super. He says its .38 Special for his semi-auto. I tell him there isn’t much if any semi-auto pistol in .38 Special. I tell him its primarily a revolver round. He says its a semi-auto and he’s certain its .38 Special. I inform him if its the wrong ammo I can’t take a return on it. He calls his son to check and the son says the same thing I did; confirms his dad’s gun is a .380 ACP. Guy is obviously embarrassed but laughs it off.
More of these, please.
These are the interactions that make me want to work in a gun store
I’m going to visit my local gun store and do this shit to judge the employees.
Don’t be that guy, they put up with enough already.
I’ve never worked in a gun store myself, but I was present for probably the worst thing my LGS had to deal with:
Dude walks in, goes up to the counter, asks an employee about selling his guns. Says it’s because he’s a convicted felon, just got out of prison, and needs to get rid of his because he can’t legally own them anymore.
Ok, cool, the guy’s just trying to follow the law.
Employee asks him what he has.
“A Glock, a S&W revolver, a Remington shotgun…. oh, and a Tec-9″
“That is specifically banned by the state of California. We literally cannot take it.”
Like, seriously, if you do that shit just as “a test”, you’re that little cunt in every single teen drama ever playing fuck fuck games “testing” their friends.
You want to “test” gun store employees? Go be a good, educated, polite customer. Watch their face light up, their shoulders relax, and them get interested.
Then go fuck yourself for ever deliberately planning being an asshole.
