Fun fact, hammering metal spikes into tree trunks is a federal crime in the US because environmental activists used to do it in the 80s to fuck up chainsaws and logging equipment.

So you should never use this effective strategy for disrupting logging operations because it is illegal.

Here’s a link describing exactly how to do it, so you can make sure not to by accident.

Logging in the USA is sustainable now, yo.

http://www.fao.org/docrep/meeting/x4995e.htm

Replenishment of timber has exceeded production since the 40′s. Evidently timber companies realized it’s more efficient to plant the trees you cut down, since you can plant uniformly, don’t have to haul them as far, and can control (roughly) when you harvest.

I mean, bourgeois mentality of killing lumberjacks/jills aside, it’s not good for the trees.

So, at least in the USA, don’t drive spikes into trees.

This has been a PSA.

Not only that, but pretty much every logger is a union member and are part of the working class.

Then again, the type of folks that do this love hurting the working class.

also the strip-logging that got the environmentalists (rightfully) pissed was perpetrated by bankers that would buy out a logging company’s holdings, crush any sort of worker unions, and unsustainably liquidate the timber

they bombed Judy Bari for bringing it to light and starting to unite the loggers and environmentalists
