I know two good portrayals because I always loved comics.
The first is from Daughter of the Lilies, which has a fantasy theme like a cross between D&D and Narnia. The artist is @bluedragongal and you can read it here:
The second example is in KILL 6 BILLION DEMONS. As the name suggests, it’s far more violent and has a far larger scope. In this comic, the one true capital-G God has been dead for a long time, choosing to shatter into billions of lesser forms. This left countless angels without a master to serve, so they spent billions of years dividing into factions and developing their own philosophy. Because their true form is an amorphous cloud of all-seeing eyes and astral fire, they can occupy any vessel they choose. The more nihilistic ones are sick and tired of this multiverse, so they wear spiky armor and work towards the apocalypse.
This one is my favorite, named Six Juggernaut Star Scours the Universe, explaining its philosophy to a traditionalist named 82 White Chain Born in Emptiness Returns to Subdue Evil.
Bayonetta has pretty canonical depictions of angels.
