That Is an AR-18 and its bolt assembly. Look at it closely.
Only good picture i could find of the L85/SA-80’s bolt assembly. Look at the top of the image, the bolt carrier is upside down.
Here is the bolt and carrier for the ACR. Notice anything yet?
And here is the FN SCAR(top) and G36(bottom). How about now? There are other rifles that also were heavily influenced by the AR-18, such as these, but I feel the point has been well made.
AR-18 did it first.
The AR-18 is a fundamentally solid rifle, only suffering from Armalite having just enough funds to develop it, not fully produce it. The M16 was being exported world wide just like the AK 47, so foreign buyers did not want to license the AR-18 and produce it themselves. I am interested in what an AR-18A1 would have looked like had Armalite, particularly Eugene Stoner, been around long enough to give it another go.
And no one say AR 180, that was under Eagle Arms and they just made a polymer lower that took STANAG mags.
here I am screaming shit about how every fucking new rifle that anyone actually gets in a tizzy about- shut the fuck up Canada no one actually cares about the XCR- is an AR-18 derivative.
