*gay apple employee voice* “so like, you totally, like, get this from fox news? im clever”

This is my least favorite cyberpunk future I gotta say.

I love how consumers sound really dumb when their tech they don’t understand stops working. Like yes apple slowed down your phones to keep them from automatically shutting down due to the batteries failure caused by age. Guaranteed we’d hear “ wow My iPhone just dies out of nowhere when I’m at 78%, then comes back on when I connect it to power.” If they hadn’t.

The main issue with phone life spans and our culture is WE ARE ON THEM ALL THE TIME. iOS 12 brings this to light with the “Screen Time” Feature while useful to monitor kids or your own habits it’s most useful purpose is to give tech advisors teeth to say “Well it’s no wonder you are only getting the phone through half the day you are literally staring at this screen for 4-6 hours of your waking day” People have very narrowminded thoughts when it comes to their tech that won’t change but hopefully people do research before trashing engineers who work hard to constantly push out updates and try to innovate.

Also it boils down to Apple vs Android is dumb it’s purely subjective but the “Humans live for tribe mentality” is another rant entirely.

TL;DR: Apple did slow down phones but not for the reason people think.

be mindful about how use your phone/what conditions you expose it to & be realistic with your expectations regarding its batttery.

software engineers are people too.

and yet

really makes one think!!!

Imagine shilling for a company that doesn’t respect your freedom.

It’s not planned obsolescence, it’s a feature.
